Position Summary: As Product Development Director, you will join the product development team and manage the product development process for owned projects, with a primary focus on OTC formulations, including mineral sunscreens, diapering, and eczema products. You will collaborate closely with external and internal R&D teams, US and global brand teams, marketing, and operations across both the Babo Botanicals and Mustela brands, ensuring the creation of innovative products that resonate with our audience and advance our mission.

Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Manage and execute all aspects of the product & package development process while ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards
Collaborate with the head of Innovation to create mineral sunscreen products and OTC products that align with brand strategy
Work closely with contract manufacturers, internal R&D and Mustela Corporate Product Innovation team in France on the development of new formulas and upgrading of existing products when needed.
Establish timelines and critical milestones; provide regular project updates and proactively communicate foreseen challenges and schedule risks to the team while identifying and working through solutions
Responsible for creating briefs, managing all communication, coordination of agendas, submission reviews, approvals and standards. Coordinate formula approval processes between vendors and brand stakeholders.
Manage and coordinate regulatory and formula testing [OTC, regulatory, stability, compatibility, etc.]
Ensure the overall feasibility and profitability of projects through cost of goods management.
Attend on-site formula; including lab development, piloting, line trials and production start-up; as needed.
Work closely with US and Corporate Regulatory leads on claims and legal
Manage product profiles and maintain the master ic for owned projects
Manage and coordinate registration requirements, in tandem with operations and regulatory teams
Manage packaging (primary and secondary) submissions for mechanical and artwork review and sign off by stakeholders.
Work closely and meet regularly with cross functional teams including operations, regulatory, marketing, and package design to ensure programs are tracking to dates and milestones.
Streamline and coordinate participation in industry events, trade shows, summits, and vendor meetings that showcase innovation and newness.
Continually analyze the category, competitive landscape and evolving consumer needs and preferences to determine innovation white space
Stay abreast of new/emerging ingredients, textures, technologies and other relevant industry developments and innovations while staying informed on manufacturing capabilities, testing protocols, and regulatory compliance

This position reports to the AVP, Product Innovation, Babo Botanicals & Mustela Β
Qualifications:
College degree required.
Minimum of 7 years of experience working in product development in OTC skincare, prior R&D experience a plus
Experience working with contract manufacturers is highly desired
This position requires 10-15% travel, to contract manufacturers and trade shows
In-depth knowledge of end-to-end product innovation process with a proven track record of successfully launching innovative beauty products
Highly adaptable, with seamless ability to take on new challenges and switch gears as necessary; embraces change and is a creative problem solver
Ability to commute to the New York City office at least one day per week and as business needs dictate
Β B Corp experience a plus
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; the company is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role Β Β

Compensation & Benefits: Our competitive compensation and benefits package includes the following (please note that the benefits listed are subject to change):
Salary range of $125K to $150K based on location, job-specific knowledge, education, skills and depth of professional experience.
