DTN currently has an outstanding opportunity for a creative individual to assume the role of Energy Product Marketing Manager / Strategic Product Manager within the Weather Division in our Burnsville, MN location. In this important role, you will be tasked with understanding and meeting the needs of the Energy industry. You will identify market trends and emerging technologies and translate them into successful product innovation. You will need to quickly become an expert on the products, the market, our customer list, and competition and be able to translate this knowledge to develop strategy and roadmaps to differentiate ourselves in the market.
You will be responsible for planning, designing and positioning of DTN weather products and value-added data, including development of collateral materials and documentation, defining pricing strategies, and working closely with Engineering to deliver best-in-class products. You will also work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to ensure all customer satisfaction goals are met, while supporting the companyβs overall strategy and goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform Industry research, engage with customers, partners and the leadership team to set strategy, define the product, and make appropriate high-judgment trade-offs between features and speed-to-launch
- Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
- Consolidate, rationalize, and prioritize market requirements into a product plan
- Collaborate closely with internal teams through all stages of product development, offering business context and insights, providing clear and consistent priorities, working through tradeoffs, and communicating plans and requirements effectively
- Contribute to product roll out efforts with marketing, sales and other client facing teams to create collateral including white papers, case studies, demos, training material, etc.
- Act as the key product evangelist and guide for external users as well as internal teams
- Develop and implement product strategy, go-to-market plan and roadmap.
- Develop business case and drive business plans for the global energy market
- Manages the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical execution covering from concept to end of life cycle.
- Analyzing potential partner relationships or acquisitions for the Energy market.
- Product launch β plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
- Sales enablement β communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team and contribute to the sales tools that support the selling process of your products
Knowledge / Skills
- Proven track record of delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives while managing multiple competing priorities
- Strong strategic aptitude; proven ability to define a winning business strategy and product roadmap and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly productsΒ
- Strong written and verbal communication and persuasion skills with all management levels, customers and other employees
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of establishing credibility with key customers, prospects and business partners, sales, customer support and development
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfort with pro-forma financial and operational analysis
- Electric Utility and/or Renewables experience a plus
- International business experience a plus
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management, business leadership experience, preferred energy industry and /or software solutions
- BA or BS degree and/or equivalent experience required - MBA preferred
- Willing to travel up to 40%, potentially more in the first year of employment
- Advanced business planning skills: business cases, margin and cash flow analysis
