Senior Product Manager
Description

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our mission-driven team. As an integral part of the Product & Engineering department, you will play a key role in our efforts to inspire people to eat more plants!

As the Product Manager, Shopping Experience, you will focus on optimizing and enhancing the customer’s journey while browsing, selecting, and purchasing products on our platform. Your work will ensure that our customers enjoy a seamless, intuitive, and delightful shopping experience. Working cross-functionally with teams across Marketing, Technology, Design, and Customer Support, you will identify opportunities, prioritize improvements, and execute on a roadmap designed to maximize customer satisfaction and drive revenue growth.

Purple Carrot HQ is in Needham, MA, and prefers local candidates to work in a hybrid model, 2 days onsite.

Responsibilities

Develop & Execute Strategy

  • Own the product roadmap and KPIs for the shopping experience, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve discoverability, personalization, and usability across Web, iOS, and Android platforms.
  • Align shopping features with retention and customer lifetime value (CLV/LTV) goals.

Customer Insights & Research

  • Analyze user feedback, behavior, and data to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead A/B testing, usability studies, and market research to inform product decisions.
  • Optimize cart flows to reduce friction and improve the journey from selection to checkout.
  • Develop abandoned cart recovery strategies, such as personalized nudges or reminders.
  • Track key metrics, including session duration, items per order, and drop-off rates, and use insights to refine the experience.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Design and Engineering teams to deliver user-friendly and visually engaging shopping experiences.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to integrate promotions, product placements, and campaigns into the platform effectively.
  • Work with Analytics to monitor performance and share actionable insights on metrics such as basket size, repeat purchases, and checkout completion rates.

PM Best Practices

  • Define clear goals, timelines, and deliverables for product initiatives.
  • Manage agile processes and provide regular updates to stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Report on shopping user performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and upcoming initiatives.

User Experience Design

  • Enhance browsing, filtering, and selection processes to simplify decision-making.
  • Develop customization features, allowing customers to tailor meals based on dietary preferences, serving sizes, or ingredient swaps.
  • Ensure the shopping experience is consistent, responsive, and intuitive across all devices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay informed of eCommerce trends, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies to keep Purple Carrot at the forefront of shopping experiences.
  • Experiment with new features, such as meal bundles, β€œfrequently bought together” recommendations, and loyalty-based add-ons.
  • Test and iterate on UI/UX elements, including layout changes, calls-to-action (CTAs), and filters, based on performance data and customer feedback.

Main Ingredients for the Role

  • 3+ years of product management experience, with a focus on eCommerce or online shopping platforms.
  • Experience in subscription services or direct-to-consumer brands is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of user journey optimization and customer behavior analysis.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Looker, Heap, VWO) and eCommerce platforms.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI best practices for web and mobile experiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
