Location: (Remote-New York Tri-State Area). Must reside in the U.S.              

Salary: $90,000/yr.- $105,000/yr. commensurate with experience

Product Ownership at Grameen   

Grameen America is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead a portfolio of initiatives that are currently in various stages of the product development lifecycle. Among these are projects to optimize the core banking MIS, deepen the functionality of its integrations with other key digital systems, and enhance the suite of loan disbursement and repayment options. A successful candidate will be comfortable navigating small, cross-functional teams towards an agreed MVP design to begin testing. They will be equally comfortable using their product management toolbox to elicit constructive feedback from Members, staff, and external industry players, synthesize this quickly into requirements, prioritize the resulting work, and continuously engage in a cyclical process of ongoing improvement. Experience implementing digital payments is a plus.

The portfolio of products under development at Grameen America changes over time. These and other product needs may come into or out of the portfolio of projects assigned to this position. The initiatives outlined above represent examples of Grameen’s initial project needs. 

In this role you will:    

  • Engage and manage a discovery and learning process with industry players to select appropriate vendors to add to our suite of repayment and disbursement channels.
  • Work closely with the operations and technology functions to design, pilot and roll out additional integrated repayment and disbursement channel options.
  • Set up a process of continuous improvement to our core systems, including periodic reviews of our SMS engagement, MIS fields, MIS views and reports, integration functionality, and transaction channels.
  • Own relationships and manage a roadmap of feature requests with our top 5 core technology vendors and partners.
  • Take a leading role in identifying needs and designing/mapping solutions to pending requests for configuration improvements to our core loan banking MIS. 
  • Take a leading role in designing/mapping solutions to requests for process innovation and automation, to measurably alleviate pain points in the Member transfer, returned payments, Know Your Customer, and payment exceptions processes, among others.
  • Ensure that learnings and findings are incorporated into future product design.
  • Uphold and manage the product development process in cross-discipline workstreams using tools, documentation, and strategies for collaboration, feedback and clear communication.
  • Be a partner, champion, and support to Members through their Grameen journey.   
  • Have a willingness to roll projects into and out of your product portfolio over time. 

 

You should have:   

  • Bachelor’s degree; 4-8 years of prior Product Management or other relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to tell stories visually and with data.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Trustworthy, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and build strong relationships with Members, colleagues and other stakeholders. 
  • Experience planning, organizing and leading working sessions and user testing sessions with target audiences to gather feedback and requirements. 
  • Proven analytical skills, including an understanding of how to collect, analyze, visualize, and tell a compelling story about a given set of data, for a wide variety of stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in common tools used to analyze data, and an ironclad commitment to data-driven decision making.
  • Grace when facing all stakeholder feedback, from very positive to deeply negative.
  • A history of working with and leading small, cross-functional teams 
  • Strong organization skills, detail oriented with the ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Spanish language skills required
  • Prior knowledge of the US payments system is a plus
  • Prior knowledge of lending and/or microlending core banking MIS systems is a plus
  • Prior knowledge of microfinance principles and common practices is a plus

Attend quarterly staff meetings in New York City required. Travel to field branches as required.
