Role Overview:

The Senior Product Manager will focus on building automation products with a specialized emphasis on network protocols and device integration (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) systems, the responsibilities and qualifications would be as follows:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with relevant experience or certifications in HVACR technology; master degree is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 2-3 years focusing on building automation products for HVACR or similar industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering products that involve HVACR systems and complex integrations using network protocols.
  • Proven experience with IoT, smart buildings, building automation or connected device ecosystems including relevant integration protocols
  • Extensive knowledge of networking protocols such as MQTT, REST, BACnet, and Modbus, and practical experience in applying these to refrigeration and HVACR equipment.
  • Familiarity and experience with specialized HVACR integration tools, software, and platforms to enable effective control and data exchange between devices.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Product Vision and Strategy for HVACR Integration Tool Suite

  • Developing a strategic vision for building automation integration products, with a specific focus on integrating HVACR systems, integration tools within our ecosystem of devices and enterprise software to service our customers.
  • Conduct thorough market and customer needs analysis for building automation in HVACR, focusing on energy efficiency, system interoperability, regulatory and compliance for internal and external customers.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, user needs, and opportunities.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for product success.

Network Protocol and Device Integration Expertise

  • Lead the design and development of tools and products that integrate with a variety of HVACR systems and devices using protocols like MQTT, REST, BACnet, Modbus, Zigbee, LoRaWAN and other protocols.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure effective integration of these protocols, tools and training that enabling seamless device communication across HVACR systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration for Specialized Devices

  • Partner with engineering, design, sales, and customer support teams to create products that meet HVACR-specific and customer requirements.
  • Facilitate collaboration with customers, third-party manufacturers, and vendors to enhance compatibility with industry-standard HVACR devices and systems.
  • Develop and maintain alignment with internal product lines and product management, strategies, business goals, and roadmaps.

Customer-Centric Product Design

  • Engage directly with end-users, contractors, and technicians in the HVACR industry to gather insights on usage patterns, pain points, ease of use, tool access, subscription models, and integration needs.
  • Develop product vison and prioritize feature roadmaps to address unique challenges in HVACR, like real-time monitoring, temperature control, and remote diagnostics, interoperability with our devices, enterprise software, and third-party enterprise software.
  • Define technical documentation, marketing collateral, and training material to ensure adoption and success of customer onboarding and self-sustaining support for legacy integration tools and new products.

Technical Product Management for Networked Devices

  • Strong understanding of building automation systems (e.g., HVAC, Refrigeration, Lighting, energy management) and relevant network protocols such as REST, MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, Zigbee, LoRaWAN and other protocols.
  • Define and oversee technical requirements for automation products that involve sophisticated HVACR equipment and protocols.
  • Ensure that product specifications account for challenges in HVACR, such as ease of use, variable power requirements, seasonal demand, regulatory and security compliance.

Product Validation and Testing for HVACR Standards

  • Manage rigorous testing processes that ensure the reliability and performance of integrations across multiple and HVACR devices and enterprise monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to validate protocol compatibility, performance metrics, regulatory and security compliance, particularly for critical applications like energy management, bi-directional messaging, data logging, alarm monitoring and control.

Project Management and Execution

  • Lead cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and sustaining, focusing on HVACR system requirements.
  • Address technical and operational issues related to HVACR integration in a timely manner to ensure a smooth product deployment.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Trello, GitHub, Bitbucket, or Asana.
  • Experience managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional team activities

HVACR Industry Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of refrigeration and HVACR systems, including knowledge of system components, operational challenges, and integration standards.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, energy efficiency standards, and protocols relevant to HVACR building management systems and enterprise monitoring systems.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in addressing the unique technical challenges posed by HVACR integrations.
  • Experience in managing troubleshooting and issue resolution for HVACR-related product issues, with a focus on system interoperability, usability, and performance.

Regulatory and Compliance Awareness:

  • Understanding of relevant regulatory, security, and environmental standards for HVACR systems, such as market trends, energy efficiency guidelines, emissions standards, and sustainability is a plus.
