Job Description

Primary Function of Position

This position will report to the Sr. Manager Environmental Management Systems and the main responsibilities will include supporting Intuitive’s Environmental Management System with implementation, delivery and execution of programs targeted at Environmental Product Regulations; collaboration tools and development of operational process, and reports for use by the broader functional teams. This role is intended to further develop Intuitive’s Environmental and Sustainability competencies and compliance to mandatory and applicable requirements by partnering cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (e.g. Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs).

Essential Job Duties

To accomplish this role, the following responsibilities and tasks will need to be performed:

  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) in Environmental Compliance Requirements such as EPR Directives and Regulations (e.g. REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, MDR etc).
  • Read and understand legislation to identify defined requirements and support the creation of business process to address these regulations.
  • Define governance, global business processes and procedures, and associated tools to address requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to integrate process into functional areas of the business as a sustainable process.
  • Partner within the organization to drive conformance and compliance to applicable requirements (regulations, directives, and standards)
  • Perform ongoing Regulatory Surveillance and Regulatory Assessments (RSAs) for new or updated Directives, Standards, and Regulations to determine what must be implemented within the business.
  • Drive maturity of process and overall governance of ongoing program

Additional tasks may be assigned as needed by functional people manager.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

In order to adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual must possess or demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of compliance regulations in regulated industry required.
  • Ability to manage multiple objectives and priorities concurrently.
  • Experience with concepts related to product, supply chain, and design control in a medical device manufacturer (such as BOM, COTS, Custom, ASL, AML, etc.)
  • Ability to develop processes and supporting governance structures that can be operated within functional organizations.
  • Exceptional organizational, data entry, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Cross functional teamwork across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated self-starting, results driven, high energy level and ability to focus.
  • Understands process flows and can think critically to develop options and recommendations.
  • Proactive thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with suppliers.
  • Requirements traceability: Translating regulations and regulatory documents to identify requirements and develop into a business process.

Required Education and Training

  • Minimum B.S. or higher in, Business Administration, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, Chemistry, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Self-motivated and resourceful
  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Data management, database creation, or data and information modeling
  • Familiarity with key business applications such as SAP and Agile PLM
  • Strong collaborative, organizational and project management skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of global Environmental Compliance Directives, Regulations and Standards such as: RoHS, Packaging, Battery, WEEE, REACH Directives, and Prop 65.
  • Experience analyzing compliance data to verify accuracy.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
