This position will be responsible for Single Controller TrueNAS hardware platforms and contribute to the Product Management team’s general organization. The Product Manager will focus on sustaining current products and assisting with the introduction of new products. There will also be a broader responsibility for general product demand across the whole product line, and assist with identifying trends.

After supporting the sales and operations teams, identify the top priorities for growing sales and reducing costs. The position will include managing vendors, ECN/PCNs, and collaboration with the Supply Chain. 

Over time, the position will assume more responsibility for NPI and managing product introduction. In the shorter term, the applicant is expected to focus on learning TrueNAS, its use cases, and customers.

The position is located in our Campbell, CA office.

Base Pay Range

The base pay range of this position is $110,000 to  $160,000 USD annually.Additional compensation through the Incentive Bonus Program is available for this position.

The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment.

The Day-to-Day

This position's essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Product Marketing

• Take the lead on all single-controller TrueNAS platforms and assist with any others.
• Collaborate with SEs on major bids
• Provide technical content and serve as primary reviewer for Single-Controller TrueNAS products
• Ensure we have captured all product specifications and data
• Get Input and review from Platform Engineering
• Assist team on HA platforms

Product Operations

• Own the single controller SKUs, pricing, and collaboration with Supply Chain and Sales Operations; ensure smooth flow of products through to sales/SEs
• Single Controller products are sold through Amazon and the TrueNAS website. This activity requires project and team management, including leadership of the cross-organization teams.

• Collaborate and assist with vendor liaison and become the lead with Abelecom and Gigabyte
• Review and collaborate on MPIs with the Platform Engineering team 
• Collaborate and assist with customer and business issues relating to the products
• Escalate any major issues to SVP of Product Management
• Assist with Company efficiency by prioritizing projects based on financial impact and re-using existing hardware and products where feasible.

Product Changes

There will be many product introductions and retirement issues to be handled. Examples of these may be:

• Partnership with other Professional NAS vendors
• Replace or Extend existing Single Controller products
• Use of Single Controller variants of H/F/M-Series

Project Management

• Take the lead on ensuring PM is working well with other organizations
• Gather data on Sales opportunities by Type
• Manage the High-stakes process for PM
• Take the lead on ECN/PCN processes
• Ensure the Quote tools and configurators are working well
• Create reports that help PM track sales, margins, growth, and forecasts
• Identify the holes in the product line from win-loss reports
• Provide useful reports on Product Status to PM and the rest of the organization

• Either a relevant Bachelor’s degree or 5 Years of relevant IT product experience
• Read business textbooks that provide business and product experiences and recommendations outside of TrueNAS.  (e.g “ Crossing the Chasm'', “Positioning: The Battle for your Mind”)
• Engage with sales, SEs, Customers, and vendors to understand what they like about TrueNAS and other products

• Understanding of TrueNAS business and operations
• Able to collaborate cross-functionally from Sales to Operations to Engineering
• Able to self-organize and help the company efficiently meet its goals
