Job Summary:

The Product Segment Leader (PSL) has global accountability and owns the strategic management of specific product portfolios to achieve sales, margin and market share KPI’s. The role has end-to-end responsibility for assigned product portfolios.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provides market insights and knowledge to influence the success of the business unit and wider company, including new suppliers, technology trends, and changes in customer demand within assigned portfolio including supplier market share data.
  • Accountable for creating and driving the overall product strategy to achieve the sales, margin, inventory and market share performance objectives.
  • Manages the product range - managing the portfolio of products throughout their life cycle. Leads cross-functional teams to successfully execute new product introductions, product range extensions, and product discontinuation.
  • Manages supplier relationships and business development plans (including review meetings and industry events) within the product business unit to help achieved the defined KPI’s/commercial goals. 
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring pricing strategies that  deliver the targeted sales and margin performance.
  • Accountable for the commercial and contractual supplier terms
  • Manages the overall inventory health : including budgets, influencing turns, line fill and provision & excess to achieve the defined KPI’s 
  • Partners with stakeholders to ensure all marketing programs are planned and executed on time, Product strategy is communicated and training provided to sales teams and strategic e-commerce plans developed 
  • Accountable for resolving customer issues including communications with suppliers and sales teams in multiple time-zones to resolve issues in a timely manner

Job Level Specifications:

  • Works independently toward long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated using independent judgment and discretion. May act as informal team lead and/or coach less experienced team members.
  • Serves as consultant to management and/or internal/external spokesperson for the organization on major initiatives related to policies, plans and long-range objectives.
  • Develops solutions to highly complex and uniquely challenging situations. Assignments require extensive evaluation of alternatives and variables. Expected to make improvements to policies and procedures.
  • Mastery knowledge of industry best practices and disciplines. Considered a subject matter expert within the organization and contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.
  • Actions may impact the organization and its reputation. Effects of erroneous decisions may be long-lasting, influence the future course of the organization and/or require the expenditure of extensive additional resources.

Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Prefer experience managing electronic component portfolios that operate within a networked environment in commercial and or industrial applications.
