Job purpose

The Product Owner is a highly motivated, self-driven individual who is passionate about achieving goals and is committed to providing a high level of service. Ideally, this individual thrives working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high level of individual ownership and accountability. Product Owners are expected to oversee all phases of the product lifecycle (from inception through retirement), including: aligning strategic vision with market/customer priorities; building business cases for new products and significant product enhancements; and partnering internally & externally on product launch.

Duties and responsibilities

Β· Develop & maintain Roadmap, & Backlog in alignment w/ both internal and external stakeholders

Β· Understand and communicate the business case for new products and enhancements

Β· Transform stakeholder requests and business needs into effective User Stories with appropriate documentation and acceptance criteria

Β· Manage stakeholder expectations relative to planning & execution by serving as liaison between stakeholders and the Dev Team Β· Facilitate daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings

Β· Ensure backlog grooming sessions are effectively run, making certain that requirements are well understood and all team members participate in a meaningful way

Β· Lead, collaborate with, and motivate a cross-functional team of business analysts, developers, testers and others to develop, execute and release in alignment with the needs of the business

Β· When and where necessary, coordinate development & deployments with corresponding teams

Β· Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) and development of training/sales materials

Β· Measure product expectations against actual outcomes

Β· Ability to travel as needed

Qualifications

Required

Β· Experience in one or more of the following fields: business analysis; health insurance; and product ownership

Β· 5+ years of total experience; preferably including 2+ years of Product Ownership

Β· Bachelor’s degree in a related field is ideal

Β· Expertise in business analysis, project management, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Β· Working knowledge of and experience with relational databases (SQL) & querying data

Β· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, with a strong aptitude in Excel & PowerPoint

Β· Experience performing UAT and providing stakeholder demos

Β· Excellent written communication skills – documentation, flowcharts, & presentations

Β· Excellent verbal communication skills – business partners, senior executives, developers, & other cross-functional team members

Β· Ability to work independently & effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment

Β· Experience w/ the Agile methodology

Β· Experience w/ Product Management/Development Tools (Jira, Azure, etc.)

Β· Experience w/ DevSecOps & Continuous Delivery/Improvement

Working conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds.
